Write

I set my stopwatch for five minutes and write continually for those five minutes. No edits, no take-backs. Five Minute Friday.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

To write. It's something most anyone can do. Scribble out a few words on a sheet of paper. The paper could be blank, scrounged from a printer's "Tray 2." Or the paper could be lined: ripped from a notebook or carefully removed from a three-ring binder. It could have a fancy watermark on the back or colorful pictures along the sides. It doesn't matter really. It and and a pen are all that are needed to share our imaginations with the world. Feelings and stories burst forth in a more vibrant way than when we speak.

It isn't always easy, and that is what makes it hard. To place your words just so, to create worlds and people from nothing, to draw murals and open portals to places and cultures others may not know exist. It's a gift to write.

A gift is not something to be ignored. You can push it under the bed, but eventually, it will come out. It's part of you. Even if it isn't, it's something we should all do. To make something that is our own.

That is to write.

it's hot in here.
the window is on and the heater turned to high- the only setting it has.
i can't complain though.
i'm living the dream.
can't i handle being uncomfortable for a night?
yes, yes i can.
it could be worse.
